A Confluence of
CONSERVATION
and
EDUCATION
Our Mission
is to inspire conservation and expand stewardship in the Swan Valley and beyond.
Our Vision
is that through exemplary stewardship, the Swan Watershed and adjacent landscapes remain wild, resilient places, where all people are connected to the natural world.

A red fox scent marking along the Swan River, with wild lupine in bloom along the bank.
Like other canines, red foxes will scent mark (with urine, feces, or scent gland secretions) for various communication purposes - along the edges of their territories, on prominent objects like stumps, rocks, and trail intersections, and areas where they cache food. They will also over-mark other animals' scats and scents.
If you've never investigated fox urine before, it's got a very potent musky odor that smells just like a skunk!
